What is ECELA? An end-to-end operations platform for freight forwarders

ECELA is a web-based operations platform built for freight forwarding companies. It brings quotes, shipment files, operations tracking and invoicing together in one place, and lets teams manage air, sea, road and rail shipments from the same screen. Running in the browser with no installation required, ECELA is one of the products Boran Software launched in 2026.

Who is ECELA for?

ECELA is designed for freight forwarders who organise cargo transport. In these companies a shipment starts with a quote to the customer, passes through booking, documents, customs and delivery, and closes with an invoice. Many people touch the same file along the way: sales prepares the quote, operations tracks the shipment, accounting issues the invoice and a manager approves the critical steps. ECELA targets teams that run this work today with scattered spreadsheets and email threads.

What problem does it solve?

In forwarding operations, information is often spread across several places: the quote in a spreadsheet, shipment status in another list, correspondence in personal inboxes and costs in the accounting software. This causes two concrete problems. First, seeing a file's current status, owner and pending work means checking more than one source. Second, costs incurred during the operation can be missed when they are carried over to the invoice. ECELA gathers this information around a single shipment file so the whole team works on the same screen.

Key features

  • File and shipment tracking: Files across all transport modes are opened, monitored and closed from a single list. Each file's status, owner and pending work are always visible.
  • Quote management: Quotes move from draft to acceptance through a status-driven flow. An accepted quote becomes an operation file in one click.
  • Invoicing and receivables: Multi-currency invoices are prepared with VAT and withholding calculated; account balances and due dates stay up to date.
  • Approval workflows: Critical actions pass through manager approval; who approved what, and when, is on record.
  • Built-in email and messaging: File-based email and team chat sit on the same screen as the operation, so the context of correspondence is not lost.
  • Roles and permissions: Role groups give per-screen and per-action permissions; every user sees only what they need to see.

Email, chat and AI inside the operation

In ECELA, communication is not a separate application; every email and every message sits next to its shipment file. Operational email is brought into the platform via IMAP, and each message is automatically matched to the relevant shipment file with a confidence score. Attachments move to the file's documents tab in one click. Shared inboxes and multiple email accounts are supported.

For internal communication there are file-based channels and group chats linked to shipment files. Booking confirmations, documents and decisions stay in the shipment's thread rather than getting lost in personal inboxes. Documents and files can be shared in chat, and branches and departments can work through a single channel.

The platform's AI layer continuously watches the inbox and files. It links incoming email to the right shipment file with a confidence score, extracts and summarises critical data such as cut-offs, ETAs and container details from email, and offers the next step, such as "Set a cut-off alert" or "Create a quote", as a one-click suggestion.

How it works: four steps from quote to collection

ECELA lines up the forwarding workflow end to end on a single track:

  • Create a quote: A quote is prepared in minutes with customer, route and transport mode details.
  • Convert to a file: An accepted quote becomes an operation file in one click; nothing is re-entered.
  • Track the operation: Bill of lading, customs, demurrage and milestones are followed on a single timeline.
  • Invoice and report: At file closing, costs flow automatically into a draft invoice and management reports are ready.

The value of this flow is that the same data is entered only once. Customer and route details from the quote carry into the file, and costs linked to the file carry into the invoice at closing. From sales to accounting, everyone sees the same record.

Administration and control

From company settings to user permissions, the administration layer sits in one panel. User permissions are managed with ready-made role templates and can be fine-tuned per screen and per action. Mandatory or optional approval steps can be defined for critical operations. Currencies, VAT rates and numbering templates are managed centrally. Every record keeps a complete history (audit trail) showing who changed what, and when.

Languages, currencies and transport modes

The ECELA interface is available in Turkish, English, Russian and French, and work can be done in USD, EUR and TRY. Air, sea, road and rail transport are supported, including both part and full loads. Higher plans also include multimodal, RoRo and intermodal options.

The plan feature lists include modules such as email integration, quote management, calendar and operations, approval workflow, accounting and invoicing, marketing tools, an AI assistant, shipment tracking, document archiving, reporting access and branch management. Which module is included in which plan can be seen in the pricing table on ecela.net.

Getting started

ECELA requires no installation. Once company settings are in place, teams can start working within the same week, and import support is provided for existing data. Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored on redundant infrastructure; role-based access and an audit trail are standard. Invoice and receivables data can be exported in standard formats, and on the Enterprise plan custom integrations are built for the company's accounting software.

Pricing follows a per-user monthly subscription model, with a discount for annual payment. Plans differ by number of users, storage, supported transport modes and AI model options; unlimited quotes, updates and standard support are included in every plan. Enterprise organisations receive a tailored offer. Companies that want to see the platform can request a 30-minute online demo.

Boran Software and ECELA

ECELA is part of Boran Software's product family and is delivered on the boransoftware.com infrastructure. Boran Software has been developing software for logistics, air cargo and bonded warehousing since 2002; carGObis is used to run air cargo terminals and BoranWise to manage transport and warehousing operations. ECELA joined this family as a platform that lets freight forwarders run their quote, file and invoice flow in the browser.

Summary

ECELA is an operations platform that combines quotes, shipment files, operations tracking, invoicing, email and team communication for freight forwarders in a single web platform. Turning an accepted quote into a file in one click, and file costs into an invoice at closing, reduces repeated data entry, while the AI layer matches email to files and extracts critical information. Role-based permissions, approval workflows and the audit trail keep management in control.
